The Space In Between

ARTIST STATEMENT:

I approached the topic of the ‘Space In Between’ quite literally.  To me the topic conjures a physical space between physical items.

Since I am drawn to abstract shapes that sparkle with light, the plastic-wrapped hay bails which dot the fields around me have attracted my attention for years.  I loved adding to my bails studies this year by searching for holes, shadows and unseen space among, between and within their stacks.

My hope is that these closer looks at the shiny bails will help folks realize that there’s beauty in what some consider an eyesore on our landscape.  I think they’re a wealth of shape and rich with spaces between.

ABOUT THE ARTIST:

Rosalind Daniels grew up in Richmond, Virginia.  She has been a fiber artist for many years and has recently returned to her early interest in photography now that digital photography has simplified photo production.  The immediacy of photography strikes her as a perfect balance to the slower process of creating quilts. Her home in rural Cabot, Vermont provides her constant inspiration as the seasons and landscapes continuously offer interesting shapes and varying palettes for exploration, while her urban travels never cease to surprise her.

Roz has recently exhibited at Studio Place Arts in Barre, VT and Waterbury Public Library in Waterbury, VT.
You can see her fiber art here.
