CALL AND RESPONSE

With the intention of keeping ourselves creating and connected during these months of social isolation, we've begun a visual exchange of 'call and response'.

The guidelines and expectations are simple. One  puts out a call…begging for another to respond. Lines…shapes…colors and forms become ongoing conversations. Much like the call and response of birds mating - our dialogues are sometimes amicable….inviting and complimentary. Other times - the dialogues are more controversial and oppositional. The surprise is seeing our images reflected back at us thru anothers'  eyes. Our small worlds and lives become richer and more expansive.

This is an ongoing project and one we expect might continue throughout, as we struggle to maintain our community relationships while keeping ourselves and communities healthy and safe.

What we’ve learned:

In the process of creating, we uncover new and different means of non-verbal communication.

Responses provide avenues for unexpected thought-provoking conversations.

Individual and differing personalities come to light.

In order to find a middle ground - we need to listen…to trust…and to accept our differing photographic styles and viewpoints.
