The Space In Between

ARTIST STATEMENT:

The space between.

It brings to mind the Vermont seasons.  In some ways so clearly defined.  And yet not.  So much space between those clear definitions.

As the long spring ends, we burst into summer.

A Vermont summer – almost like a space between.  Short, down jackets still hanging in the closet ready for summer’s cold evenings.

But in that very short season we are alive with the promise of color, scent, and beauty in natures annual show.  We till, plant, coddle and ogle over every blossom and tree savoring the joy and beauty. Each day rising to capture the perfect bloom with my camera.

Until you realize it is over and this is my season’s work.

The early snow covers the delicate leaves of still blooming flowers.

Fall ice - so delicate on the branches.  A heavy frost burying summer fruit before the relentless cold and smothering snow of winter really arrives.

Time to move on to the next season of pictures.

ABOUT THE ARTIST:
My husband Gary and I moved to Morrisville in 2015 after living in Massachusetts for 35 years.  We were drawn to Morrisville when our youngest daughter enrolled at Johnson State.  Like our daughter, we fell in love with Vermont -  the beauty, the people, the food, the outdoors.  After retiring, it took us three months to find a house and start a new life. For me that meant new learnings - expanding my love of road biking, getting out the camera that has been sitting in a closet unused and engaging with my new community. The joy of being retired is the gift to explore and hopefully produce something that is meaningful to someone beyond me.
